BioRePeel is marketed as "the no-downtime peel" — and for most clients, that's accurate. But "no downtime" doesn't mean "no aftercare." What you do in the 48 hours after your treatment is what determines whether you get the full radiance-and-glow result or a week of unnecessary irritation.
This is the exact day-by-day protocol I give every BioRePeel client at our Orange, CA studio. Print it, save it, or screenshot the day cards — this is what you actually need to do.
The Fast Answer — 30-Second Version
- First 24 hours: no makeup, no sun, no sweat, no other actives, no washing with hot water
- Days 2-3: mineral makeup only, gentle cleanser twice daily, SPF 30+ mineral sunscreen every single day
- Days 3-5: mild flaking possible — don't pick, don't peel, don't exfoliate
- Days 5-7: back to most normal routine, still no retinol or other peels
- Day 8 onward: normal routine can resume, retinol can restart slowly
- 14 days: daily SPF still non-negotiable — sun exposure is the #1 cause of post-peel hyperpigmentation
Day-by-Day Timeline
Right after your appointment
Your esthetician will neutralize the peel, apply a calming serum, and finish with mineral SPF before you leave. Your skin may look slightly pink or feel warm — that's normal and typically fades within 2-4 hours. Some clients see immediate glow ("BioRePeel glow") — that's also normal.
Do: Drink water. Sleep on your back if possible tonight (skip the pillow-mash). Apply mineral SPF if you have to go outside.
Don't: Wash your face for at least 6 hours. Don't apply anything except what we send you home with. No makeup. No sun. No sweat.
Gentle cleanse, mineral SPF, nothing active
You can wash your face this morning with a gentle, non-foaming, fragrance-free cleanser (CeraVe Hydrating, Vanicream, or similar). Use lukewarm — never hot — water. Pat dry, don't rub.
Do: Apply the calming moisturizer we sent home. Reapply mineral SPF 30+ (Elta MD, Blue Lizard, or similar zinc-oxide-based) any time you leave the house.
Don't: No retinol, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, vitamin C, or exfoliating anything. No makeup yet. No workouts. No saunas or hot showers.
You can re-introduce mineral makeup
Skin barrier should feel calm and hydrated by now. Some clients see subtle skin brightening starting today. If you notice any tightness, add a hydrating serum (pure hyaluronic acid + a plain moisturizer).
Do: Mineral makeup is OK today. Continue cleanser + moisturizer + SPF cycle. Gentle workouts can resume (nothing that makes you sweat heavily).
Don't: Still no active ingredients. Still no other exfoliating treatments. Still no direct sun without SPF.
Mild flaking may appear — don't pick
This is the most common window for visible peeling if it happens at all. BioRePeel produces LESS visible peeling than a traditional TCA or glycolic peel, but light flaking around the mouth, nose, and forehead is possible.
Do: Keep skin heavily hydrated. Use a rich moisturizer morning and night. If flaking is visible, let it release naturally — a gentle warm-water rinse will help loose flakes come off. Mineral makeup covers most flaking cleanly.
Don't: No physical exfoliants (scrubs, brushes, konjac sponges). No pulling, picking, or peeling by hand. No dermaplaning until day 8+. No waxing on treated area for 7 days.
Back to (mostly) normal
Any peeling should be resolved by day 7. Skin should look brighter, feel smoother, and any melasma/pigmentation targets should show subtle fading (full result takes 3-4 weeks and multiple sessions for meaningful change).
Do: Resume normal cleanser, normal moisturizer, normal vitamin C serum (day 6+). Continue strict SPF.
Don't: Still hold off on retinol until day 8. Still no other peels until 2 weeks out.

Book BioRePeel Now →What About Sun Exposure?
Sun exposure is the #1 aftercare mistake we see. BioRePeel accelerates cell turnover, which means fresh, more sun-sensitive skin cells are on the surface for the first 2-3 weeks. UV exposure during this window can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — permanent dark spots that undo the entire treatment.
The rule: mineral SPF 30 or higher, every single day, reapplied every 2 hours if outdoors, for a full 14 days minimum after any BioRePeel treatment. This isn't optional — this is the difference between a beautiful result and a permanent problem.
We recommend mineral (zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) sunscreens over chemical sunscreens for the first two weeks. Elta MD UV Clear, Blue Lizard Sensitive, and CeraVe Mineral are all esthetician-approved options.
Can I Combine BioRePeel with Other Treatments?
Yes — but timing matters:
- Botox / Dysport: Wait 24-48 hours after Botox before BioRePeel (or vice versa). The mechanisms don't interfere but you want the injection site to fully close.
- Filler: Wait 2 weeks after filler before BioRePeel to let swelling and bruising fully resolve.
- Microneedling: BioRePeel can be layered WITH microneedling in the same session as an advanced protocol — done by licensed professionals only. Don't stack them at home.
- Laser (IPL, CO2): Wait 4-6 weeks between laser and BioRePeel. Layering too soon risks over-inflammation.
- Dermaplaning: Wait 7 days between dermaplane and BioRePeel in either direction.
- Other chemical peels: Wait 2 weeks between peel treatments minimum.
What If Something Goes Wrong?
BioRePeel is well-tolerated for most skin types when performed by a licensed esthetician. Rare aftercare issues:
- Excessive redness beyond day 2 — could indicate an inflammatory response. Text or call us. We may recommend a specific soothing protocol.
- Breakouts or purging in the first week — some clients experience minor purging as accelerated cell turnover pushes existing congestion to the surface. Typically resolves within 5-7 days. Contact us if breakouts are painful, cystic, or worsening.
- Dark spots emerging in weeks 2-4 — this is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, almost always from insufficient sun protection. Book a follow-up to discuss brightening protocol.
- Any pain, oozing, blistering, or fever — that's abnormal for BioRePeel. Contact us immediately (714-809-2851).

- Series of 4-6 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart
- Maintenance every 4-6 weeks after your initial series

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does BioRePeel aftercare last?
BioRePeel aftercare is most active during the first 5-7 days. Days 1-2 focus on avoiding sun, sweat, and active ingredients. Days 3-5 you may see mild peeling or flaking. Days 5-7 skin returns to normal but continue strict SPF for at least 14 days. Full skin-cycle response takes about 28 days.
Can I wear makeup after BioRePeel?
Wait a full 24 hours before applying any makeup. On day 2 you can use mineral makeup. By day 3-4 most clients can return to normal makeup, though we recommend clean, non-comedogenic products for the first week.
Is peeling normal after BioRePeel?
Mild peeling is possible around days 3-5 but is NOT guaranteed. BioRePeel is marketed as a "no-downtime" peel and many clients see zero visible peeling. If you do see flaking, it's typically light and easily concealed with mineral makeup.
Can I use retinol after BioRePeel?
Skip retinol (and all retinoids) for 7 days after BioRePeel. Combining active exfoliators too soon after a chemical peel can trigger inflammation and hyperpigmentation. Restart retinol on day 8 with a slow re-introduction.
Can I work out after BioRePeel?
Avoid intensive workouts, sauna, hot yoga, and heavy sweating for 24-48 hours. Sweat can irritate freshly treated skin. Light walking is fine. Resume normal training on day 3.
When can I get my next BioRePeel?
BioRePeel is designed as a series — a typical protocol is 4-6 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart. This cadence matches your skin's cell-turnover cycle. Solo treatments are also effective for maintenance every 4-6 weeks.
